Macomb County Shoppers Get an Updated Gratiot Avenue Store as Value World’s Metro Detroit Refresh Continues

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. The Value World thrift store at 33955 Gratiot Ave reopened recently with a brighter, cleaner look. The store is one of 10 Value World locations in Metro Detroit getting a refresh. Southgate, Warren, and Ypsilanti reopened ahead of it, and Westland followed.

Reopening day started with a ribbon-cutting. VIP Club members earned Double Rewards Points on every purchase that day.

The refresh brought new exterior signage, fresh paint, and improved merchandise displays. Everything else about the store stayed put, including the address and the big free parking lot.

The store sits up Gratiot Avenue from Macomb Mall, close to George George Memorial Park and the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill. An easy stop between errands.

What You’ll Find at Value World Clinton Township

The Clinton Township store carries new and gently used name-brand items for the whole family, and thousands of items go out on the sales floor every day. Parents shopping for kids can start in children’s clothing, then work through the board games, stuffed animals, and outdoor toys. The departments cover six categories:

  • Clothing: women, men, kids, and baby
  • Jewelry: watches, rings, necklaces, and bracelets
  • Electronics: TVs, audio, gaming, and accessories
  • Books and media: books, music, and movies
  • Housewares: kitchenware, home décor, and small appliances
  • Toys and games: video games and puzzles

Stock changes daily, so the rack you flipped through last week will have different pieces by the time you come back.

The store has accessible parking and an accessible entrance, a large free parking lot, and gift cards for the thrifter in your life.

Ways to Save on Every Trip

The VIP Club is free, and it’s the only way to guarantee you’ll get Value World coupons. Every $1 you spend earns a point, and the points turn into money off a later trip: $5 off at 100 points and $10 off at 150. Points last 24 months.

Members also get a birthday coupon that lasts a full month, members-only sales and coupons, and first notice of upcoming promotions. Double Points events, like the one on reopening day, get you to a reward on half the spending.

On top of VIP rewards, shoppers save with:

  • Color of the Day: each store posts one tag color that’s 50% off, and the color changes daily
  • 99¢ racks: at participating stores
  • 3 for $1 Sundays: on select color tags, on select Sundays through the year

A Family Business Since 1955

Value World started with one store in Cleveland in 1955, and more than 70 years later, the founding family’s third generation still runs the company. It’s majority female-owned, too.

The company buys almost all of its inventory from nonprofits, recycling programs, and retailers. Its purchases from nonprofits have helped those organizations raise more than $50 million for their missions. More than 100 million pounds of goods have stayed out of landfills.

If you’re on Gratiot this week, check that day’s Color of the Day before you start on the racks.
